Our School Council is the ‘Pupils' Voice’: it is a great way for all children at Bishop Chavasse School to be represented. We believe that our children should always have the opportunity to say how we can improve their experience at school.
Each Key Stage 2 class has two elected class representatives (one boy and one girl), who were elected by their classes at the start of the academic year. The representatives are responsible for reporting back to their class after each meeting to discuss the issues and suggestions raised. They are also responsible for raising new ideas and suggestions from their classes at the meetings for discussion. Their continued efforts are a great way for pupils and staff to work together to improve our school.
Mrs Watts is our staff representative and is responsible for coordinating our weekly meetings, taking the minutes, and acting upon all issues raised ready to feedback at the following meeting.
Some examples of how our School Council has already had an impact on improving our school this year:
- A non-uniform day held for donations of books or £1 to support our library.
- Started an Arts and Crafts lunchtime club.
- Started a Rubik Cube lunchtime club.
- Poster/banner campaign to design Car Park safety posters/banners.
- Extra Trim Trail day for the Attendance Cup winners.
- School Council suggestion boxes for each class.
