Online Safety
Following the periods of National Lockdown children are now more likely to access online resources and websites. It is essential that children are kept safe, understand how to behave online and know what to do if they find themselves in a situation that makes them feel uncomfortable.
The following links will take you to websites designed to give guidance to help parents to keep children safe online at home.
- CEOP is the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre
CEOP help children stay safe online. If someone has acted inappropriately towards you online, or to a child or young person you know, you should report it via https://ceop.police.uk/safety-centre/ - ThinkUKnow: this website has lots of useful ways you can help your child stay safe online, as well as advice on the use of mobiles and social media.
- Educate Against Hate: Information for staff and parents on protecting young people from radicalisation and extremism
- NSPCC Advice for Parents: the NSPCC website has a section for parents and carers with advice on Internet Safety
Our Designated Safeguarding Leaders
The DSL and DDSLs can also provide additional and specific support, advice and/or signposting in relation to online safety concerns including allegations of cyber-bullying.
The pupils at our school know who our DSLs are using the posters that you can see all around the school and in every classroom. Children know that if they are unhappy about something they can talk to any member of staff, but these are the people that oversee the safeguarding:
"If you are feeling sad about something at school or at home, you can tell a teacher and they will help you." - James
"We have got four safeguarding leaders in our school and they look after us." - Ruvaan
"We know that adults in our school are safe to talk to because they have a school lanyard." - Sophia
"If we see something dangerous then we know who we should go and talk to." - Sydney
"At school we like to help each other and the teachers help us." - Isabelle
